That is ALSO why you can rest easy that your data is being replicated. Some people call this "fake raid" since the BIOS instead of a dedicated backplane is controlling the disks, its still a leg up (redundancy and performance wise) over software RAID solutions. Secondly the "hardware" raid on most motherboards is not a dedicated but instead logical controller. Suffice to say hardware RAID is still a far better solution than most software raids.
